On 21 December 2023, in its ‘sports trilogy’, the CJEU handed down its Refaelov-Antwerp ruling (C-680/21) concerning the rules of UEFA and its member associations relating to locally trained players (see attached press release issued by the CJEU on 21 December 2023).

The case is now back before the national court that referred the questions to the CJEU for a preliminary ruling, namely the Brussels Court of First Instance.

The case will be heard before the Brussels Court of First Instance on 10 and 11 September.
