The announcement of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between FIFA and FIFPro, which provides, in particular, for the creation of a genuine global platform for social dialogue, is undoubtedly a major step towards modernised, more transparent and therefore more democratic governance, where the social partners should finally be able to play their rightful role, in collaboration with the relevant national and international federations.

We are delighted that, as we have always hoped, a series of landmark rulings by the CJEU, including the Diarra judgment, has made this update to the governance model possible. And we hope that this dialogue, now able to take shape at a global level and no longer just at a European level, will lead – over time – to increasingly ambitious contents that reflect a fair balance between the various interests at stake.
